а а аLast year we have released the first version of Magic Denoser having very simple and intuitive user interface with only a few controls. A lot of users like it since it allowed them to get dramatically improved the look of images by cleaning up the image noise nearly automatically. But some users gave us a critique of this plug-in.
а а First of all there was no way to adjust the noise pattern having a fixed size of 80x80 pixels. Sometimes it will not allow a user to sample an area that improves the image. If the user sets the pattern on a large enough area, such as a wall or sky, very little change occurs.а If the user places the pattern on the subject that he wants softened and the pattern is so large that edges or some important details are included (see the middle image below) then the image is over softened and blurry.

Just now everyone has a possibility not only to place the noise sample in image areas free of edges and fine details but adjust its size by clicking and dragging any of corners on the button УSelect noise patternФ. You can see it at the left image below. Look at the middle

and right images above where new and previous results of noise reduction are shown. You can see that the new version gets some flexibility in selecting noise area of appropriate size and the user can avoid sometimes extra blurring of the result.
Secondly there was no way to adjust the strength of noise reduction. Our plug-in is good enough to cope with the noise appeared at lower ISO setting when the user capture overly bright scenes. But under dimmer conditions (cloudy days, indoors, etc.) only increasing the sensitivity can make the capturing scene possible but noise becomes strongly visible. The new version of Magic Denoiser is provided with a special Noise suppression control that defines the strength of grainy noise suppression. Look at the original image below that is seriously corrupted by noise. The previous version of Magic Denoiser produces the result shown in the middle. It corresponds to 50% setting of the Noise suppression control in the new version. One can say that noise reduction here is not appropriate Ц noise remains visible on the left cheek, chin and neck. Setting 70% for this

control is enough to cope with such type of noise. Besides, new to version 1.5 the impulse noise removing option was added and speckles size was set equal to 3 to produce the final result shown on the right above.
